Disaster Recovery Projects
Our team are uniquely experienced and resourced to run natural disaster clean up projects.
We're there when it counts
Brisbane Floods, 2022
In the wake of the devastating March Floods in Brisbane, BWC was contracted by Suez to assist with flood recovery efforts in multiple locations.
Our team and fleet of machinery and trucks worked around the clock clearing out and removing all the soiled and rotten produce from the Brisbane markets.
We then began clearing out the flooded waste from Toombul Shopping Centre, which had experienced its worst flood in the centre’s 55 year history, with the water rising to waist height throughout the ground floor level.
Lismore Floods, 2022
Our team worked 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week to set up and run the Emergency Waste Transfer Station at Alstonville, processing waste and helping with kerbside cleanup from all over the Northern Rivers area.
Trucks full of waste arrived at a rate of one per minute, while our team sorted and processed material day and night.
By the third day, the waste pile was 13.5m high. After approximately 2 weeks, 58,000 tonnes of waste had been dumped at this transfer station.

Bushfires, 2020
Following the devastating bushfires in 2020, our team mobilised to Narooma in NSW for nearly two months to assist Eurobodalla Shire Council with their recovery project.
Port Stephens, 2015
In 2015, BWC were contracted again by SITA to assist with recovery and clean up efforts in Port Stephens (NSW), as well as Rockhampton and Yeppoon following Cyclone Marcia.
Our team quickly mobilised the required equipment and efficiently set up and ran multiple transfer stations, sorting and clearing debris.
Bundaberg Floods, 2013
BWC assisted SITA with the clean up in Bundaberg after the 2013 floods.
We ran multiple transfer stations, utilising our heavy machinery and trucks with our team sorting and moving debris.
